FAQ

NVR questions

Do Medallion NVRs require Cortex-branded cameras?

Medallion NVRs auto-recognize Medallion IP cameras for full feature support (ColorMAX control, AI analytics tagging), but they also accept standard ONVIF cameras from other brands with core recording and viewing functionality.

What's the difference between the PoE port count and channel count on an NVR?

Channel count is the maximum number of camera streams the NVR can record. PoE port count is how many of those cameras it can power directly over the network cable — if you have more channels than PoE ports, the extra cameras need an external PoE switch or injector.
